I have made quite a few animal and bug crafts with my daughter in the past 9 years but only 1 bird craft – the Hand-printed Bat. So it was time to make a bird again. And this time it’s the ‘Bald Eagle’ since we are in the ‘Letter of the week – E’.

Things required for 'Bald Eagle' craft are: brown, yellow and white papers, pencil, marker pen, googly eyes, scissors and glue.

Draw and cut the eagle's head from the white paper.

Draw and cut the eagle’s head from the white paper like the image above.

Trace your toddler/preschooler's hands on the brown paper. Leave some bleed area when you are cutting the hand outlines otherwise you shall end up with small wing like me.

Draw and cut the body of the eagle out of the brown paper.

Draw and cut 2 ovals (for the feet) and a beak.

Draw and cut 2 ovals (for the feet) and a beak from the yellow paper. Thanks to the brightness of the image, the yellow looks like white here!

Get your toddler/preschooler to paste the wings on the body of the eagle.

Paste the feet.

Glue the head and feet on the body.

Then add the bald head on top of the body.

Add the eyes.

And add the eyes on the head.

And the beak on the head. (Excuse the bad quality of the image, I wasn’t being able to get the camera to perform that day).

Use the marker pen to outline the beak, feathers and the talons. Your 'Bald Eagle' is ready to soar!

Early Learning goes a long way in your child’s education and upbringing. Amongst the very important things to learn for a toddler or preschooler are hand-eye coordination, 5 senses, practice fine and gross motor skills, balance, and muscle development. A lot of this can be practiced at home with crafts and activities under adult’s supervision. Playing with colors, pots and pans, brushes, sponges, glue; reading books, pretend play, all seem like child’s play to us but are actually helping your toddlers/preschoolers develop their minds and bodies.

Please make sure all the activities mentioned in this blog are done under adult supervision. If your children are still putting things in their mouths, then avoid activities with small particles that can cause chocking hazards. Also, all steps in the articles that involves a pencil, knife, pair of scissors or any sharp objects should be performed by an adult.
